Welcome to Press75’s Big Video theme documentation page. Big Video is a minimalist WordPress theme for creating perfectly fluid full-screen video splash pages — including “loves”, play count and MailChimp integration. Just update your settings and content via the customizer, publish and done.

Below you will find instructions and information on each of Big Video’s theme elements. These setup and usage instructions assume that you have working knowledge of the WordPress publishing platform, but if you are new to WordPress then we highly recommend reviewing the Getting Start with WordPress Codex article. NOTE: WordPress does not provide import functionality for theme options, custom fields, required plugins or other settings. This means that even with the theme sample data file, you will still need to adjust your theme options and most likely add content according to the setup and usage instructions below. Installing Your Theme

There are a number of ways to install a WordPress theme:

- WordPress admin
- S/FTP
- Hosting control panel (cPanel used as a specific example)

The recommended installation method for most people is through the WordPress admin, though some theme updates may require the use of S/FTP or your hosting control panel. Instructions for all three options can be found in the Using Themes Codex article.

WordPress Customizer

The customizer page is where you will find all the theme specific configuration, customization and featured content options. Within your WordPress admin, click "Appearance" and then "Customizer" to load the options page. There will be on screen descriptions and instructions for each option within the page explaining what the option is for and how to configure it. The customizer page and included options will most likely be different for each individual theme, but the concept is the same for all themes.

Theme Options Panel

Big Video is integrated with the WordPress theme Customizer (Appearance > Customize), giving you easy control over the Big Video’s various options. To access all of Big Video’s options, the Kirki plugin must be installed. This can be done manually in your WordPress admin under Plugins > Add New, otherwise you will be prompted in the customizer to install, and activate Kirki.

Appearance > Customize > Theme Settings

Main site text. This option allows you to enter any text you would like to display overlayed your video.

Video Title. Add your video title, bottom left.

Videographer. Add your videographer attribution, bottom left, below the video title.

Twitter Profile URL. Configure the URL to your Twitter profile.

Facebook Profile URL. Configure the URL to your Facebook profile.

Instagram Profile URL. Configure the URL to your Instagram profile.

Email address. Add your e-mail address, for contact purposes.

Appearance > Customize > Video

mp4, and webm video. These options allow you to upload the video you want to feature on the homepage. You can upload either an mp4, or webm video file, or – for better browser support – both.

Appearance > Customize > Images

Loading image. This options allows you to replace Big Video’s default loading image (the square series of squares) with your own.

Background image. This is the image that displays on the homepage, prior to clicking the play icon.

Logo image. Set your own logo image to the top left of your navigation area. Recommended logo size is 40×40.

Appearance > Customize > About Panel

Title. Add a title to your About section.

Content. Add your About content.

Appearance > Customize > Subscribe Panel

Title. Add a title to your Subscribe section.

Content. Add your Subscribe  content.

Appearance > Customize > Mailchimp Settings

Mailchimp API key. Connect the subscription form with a MailChimp account by adding an API key.

Mailchimp list ID. Connect the subscription form with a MailChimp mailing list by adding a list ID.

Adding A Video

To add a background video, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Video
  2. For the mp4 Video, use the Select File button, upload a video, select the video and use the Choose File button.
  3. For the webm Video, use the Select File button, upload a video, select the video and use the Choose File button.

Add a video in each format to get the best results and support as many browsers and devices as possible.
